well i woke up this morning to finish up the drivers side padding and carpet
i had tar bleeding thru because no pad
i had just a little carpet left from last falls install
but this is why i had a black heal
so i pulled it out and had to scrape
the pad is fiber touch for a house.i found it in a dumpster at a renavation down the street.
i cut the pad fitted it pulled it to trim
and made a copy of carpet
layed it in nice and buttoned it up
it looked real good BUT the corn rows were WRONG
i said "oh well i can live with it"
BUT then i drove it across town "after a charge"
and when i got to the store it was driping fuel
oh no i just did padding,so we whent into the store and i bought 80 inches of steel line coated and drove it home.
and sure enuff gas soaked brand new
so out with it again
ill need to do this again

Good luck Joe. It seems like there is always something going on with these old cars that we love!

my fuel line looked good"and it WAS
the return line i assumed was just as good
BUT there was on spot three inches
so i replaced the main line and caped off the return under the car
inspection of the remaining lines looked good
i dont want to wiggle them much
and recut some pad and use the smelly new carpet
i didnt have enuff
but again all is well

I agree gotta love old cars! Eventually you should replace the fuel lines. Not too bad of a job.
