Loud noise while driving

Between 25mph and 35mph I am getting a high pitched loud whining sound - changes with road speed rather than engine speed. First thought it was a throw out bearing - but pushing in the clutch doesn't alway stop the noise and changing gear doesn't help. Sometimes will have the noise at 45-50mph - and it is higher pitched than at 30mph. Seems to be coming from the front of the car. Wheel bearing?

wheel bearings usually rumble, but maybe you have one adjusted improperly or a brake dragging. Does the car pull?

mark is right about the wheel bearing. only thing i can think of is if one of the wheel bearing are dry, you might get a whine out of it.

What is the best test to eliminate the throw out bearing?

As for the wheel bearing - other than doing the wobble test for looseness, any other visual method? I should just pull the wheel and see if the bearing is dry....

Doesn't pull and it brakes nice and straight.

I will try to record the sound and post it. Tomorrow or Sunday.
