Almost finished and ready for summer (lot of pictures)

Post by corujoxx »

At the end, and after 6 months in the bodyshop due an accident with a cow, the spider is on the road again and looks as new!
New tinted windshield with blue band to avoid sunlight, new ulphostery with vented thrue leather, and all the small details as gaskets, rubbers, etc. completely new.

I prefer not calculate the budget, but the result is fantastic. Hope you likes as much as I do!!

Gorgeous!!!

What rear bumper did you use? That looks fantastic!

I like how you deleted the map pockets and added lights there.

The stretchy hold-down for cargo in the trunk is brilliant, too!

The rear bumper cames from a Fiat 125 sedan. I must cut it and re-welded in the correct possition. Easyer said than do it!

Nice! Can you give some details about the dash? Veneer? Plastic?

Hi Rroller!

Dash is also hand made, real wood with many clearcoat layers. I´ve used the original dash to made a copy with better wood. I also have almost finished the door handles in the same wood. May be finished in one month (I hope...)

Dash is much easier, just some flat wood and some Dremel work.

Where did you get those exterior mirrors? Love the CD-30s. Are those reproductions?

Is that dash a veneer over a wood substrate or solid? I ask because it looks like you have a compound curve along the edge and this is challenging with veneer. I am planning to do mine in pommele sapele or a similar burl, this Spring. Just FYI Here is a really good website for veneers: http://www.certainlywood.com/?gclid=CIm ... NAoddCVNYA. But YOU don't need it with that dash!

I can relate with you on this, I've saved all of the receipts but I don't think I want to ever total them.
After all it's the joy of the accomplishment and not the actual costs. And I can honestly say this now that I am almost done.
BTW.....Nice job.

I bougth the mirrors in Spider Point, not expensive and very good quality. The CD 30´s are originals, in magnessium. Rims are lighter then tyres!!

Rroller, the wood are solid and the border is actualy round, not possible with veneer. I am planning try a new set with round front as the jaguar XK8 dash, but it has a lot of work to insert the gauges. The basic adventage of the round set is when you see the ligth reflecting on it, like this picture.
