Hi there, I'm just now setting up my first Spider, and am doing so as a vintage racer.
I'll be doing mostly local impromptu auto-crossing with the occational trip around the lake. It's not my primary car, so I don't mind a stiff ride, but I'm sure my GF will bitch if it's not at least somewhat comfortable...
What shock and spring set-up is best for my '69 124AS with the 1.8 upgrade, and 14 inch BMW alloy wheels with 195/60-14 tires? Keep in mind that I'm a university student on aid, and working part time as a cafe barista...
Part numbers, and/or sources are much appreciated. Thanks to the guy who did so regarding my starter issue in another thread. [/img]

This is just a girl's opinion, but I would stick with the stock springs since it's an early Spider. I'm running yellow Konis on my 72. You may be able to get by with just the fronts since you'll want a softer shock in the rear and you may want to consider a 1" sway bar for the front. I ran mine with autocross tires the last time and the tires showed very little edge scuffing (not much body roll) and I didn't experience any pushing or looseness.
I'm running standard rear shocks and springs with stiff (approx 500lb) lowered springs in the front and a slightly larger sway bar. Ensure that you don't have the bottom wishbones pointing upward from the crossmember to the wheel - they should be at the most parallel with the ground or else slightly angled downward to the wheel.
