Du nicht sprecht Deutsche? Just hit the google translate button at the top of the page. However you must long into that forum to see the photos.
From the translated page I picked up that it was a targa top. There was a company in Germany that made those targa tops, hence why you don't see them in the US.
I think there is a picture of that targa top in the "Fiat and Abarth 124 Spider and Coupe" book by John Tripler If not that book, then its in "Fiat 124 coupe and spider 1968-1982" by Eberhard Kittler I have both books and can confirm or add the picture later.

The picture of the targa top is from "Fiat 124 coupe and spider 1968-1982" by Eberhard Kittler on page #56
The targa top appears close in design to the Pininfarina hard top.

Ken Dickson also had a reference to the targa top on his website at the bottom of the page: http://www.kendickson.com/car/toplatches.html

Re: Another intriguing hardtop
You're right, the Targa top is close to the Pininfarina one BUT it's nothing like the one on the German site, that looks a bit like the hardtop on the classic Merc 280 pagoda. I've finally managed to get Flickr working on the iPad (couldn't upload and had to email the photo to Flickr). Anyone know what this beauty is?manoa matt wrote:The picture of the targa top is from "Fiat 124 coupe and spider 1968-1982" by Eberhard Kittler on page #56

Re: Another intriguing hardtop
Did a search for Korbler hardtops on Google Image and the targa top was definitely sold by Korbler. They also did hardtops for other cars like the Spitfire, and that one looks similar to the merc-style one on the German Spider. Did Korbler do more than one type?
