Kind of a sad day...

Post by MrWampus »

On Sunday I was driving around town with the top down and rather suddenly "The Mistress" started sounding less like a lady and more like a vixen. I pulled over and discovered I had a rather clean break in my exhaust pipe just behind the rear axle right before it enters the rear muffler. She sounded great! Not obnoxiously loud but certainly a low throaty rumble with a nice little sputter sound under back pressure when I let off the gas. It was a bit like listening to a bluesy jazz singer with a deep velvety but raspy voice from too many cigarettes and too much whisky. I drove around the rest of the day Sunday enjoying the concert.

Today on the way home from work I stopped in a muffler shop and had them weld the pipe back together and now the nice rumble is gone [heavy sigh]. She sounds much more like a lady again, but at least I know what she is capable of (that hussy!) It's a bit like that time your wife/gf had just a little too much to drink at that party one time and when she got you home... well, you know the rest. 8)

I had a poor connection where I had my test pipe attach to my down pipe, and after a couple weeks of driving it like that, I punched the gas to merge lanes and the test pipe blew clean off the down pipe. Scared the crap out of me going from a brrrrr to RAAAAAAAAA all of a sudden. Sounded amazing though!

2" pipe all the way with a dual tip muffler. These cars are not ladies they are meant to be driven hard and put away wet.
