door panels
door panels
I received new door panels from IAP and expected they would come with a felt strip attached to the inside top which wipes the window. I don't seem to be finding the felt strip anywhere. Is it no longer used/available?
Re: door panels
I have door panels in the garage as well and I got the felt from AL. Please let me know how you plan to attach the felt. I am planning on using aluminum pop rivits and then flatten them so they do not get in the way when attaching the panels.
thanks,
thanks,

Re: door panels
I just did this. Got the panels and felt from Csaba, picked up some blind rivets from McMaster, and used a dremel to grind down about half of the back side of the rivet. Went on without issue.
Re: door panels
that sounds easy, thanks for the response. Did you use the door clips or screws to attach your panels?

Re: door panels
I reused 5 old clips and 2 new ones on the drivers door. For what ever reason I could only get 3 of the passenger door clips to line up, but by the time I had the door and window crank handles on as well as the arm rest, the panel was tight against the door. I don't have a screw in either door.Flyingthere wrote:that sounds easy, thanks for the response. Did you use the door clips or screws to attach your panels?

Sounds great, I would love to see pictures if you have any. I can't wait until I get to the interior renewal project.

Does someone have a picture of what the clips look like?
Who is Csaba and McMasters and AL?

My bad AL should have been AR for Auto Ricambi, Csaba is the owner. The link to the clip is below;

McMaster is McMaster Carr, they carry a lot of hardware that you will not find in the local home, or hardward store. mcmaster-carr.com

Re: door panels
thanks and one more question about the clips. The ones on AR do they fill in the nylon grommet or the grommets need to be removed? They are very odd looking, not what I expected. psg
Re: door panels
John can you chime in here? I have not had my door panels off in years.

Re: door panels
If you look at the description on the webstore, it says it fits X1/9 and 124 Sedan. The early Spider ones worked in a similar way, but were metal, the late Spider ones are round. I have never tried to use these on a Spider, I do not know how well they work. Sorry about the misunderstanding.psg wrote:thanks and one more question about the clips. On my car once I put the armrest and window winder on, the doorpanel is very tight. It will only bow out if it gets wet...

Re: door panels
John got the original, later style 124 spider plastic door clips from me. I have 6 left.

Re: door panels
You might consider sealing off the door itself with some thin. flexible plastic sheeting (heavy gauge trash bag) to help keep the inside of the panels dry.vandor wrote:psg wrote:On my car once I put the armrest and window winder on, the doorpanel is very tight. I have the older style clips that are metal and are shaped like the the ends of metal shears that push into the plastic cups in the doors. IAP has new ones, but I don't think they are listed in their site, so you may want to give them a call. They were too pricey in my opinion though at about $3.50 a piece.
