Woodward cruise 2011

Post by grittracing »

Today was the Woodward dream cruise. "The world's biggest car show" if your a car guy you wopuld be like a kid in a candy store. I was the second person to arive at Golling Fiat of Birmingham Michigan. The 1st was the guy unlocking the dealership. they where letting anyone with a Fiat park in their parking lot. I tried to park in front of the door with the Fiat logo on the door.but it was to small.

That really is fantastic. What a great day :D Are you sure it's the worlds biggest gathering though. When I left the UK 10 years ago, we had "Classics on the Common" at Harpenden (where I was born) every July. There were around 2000 cars then and I understand it has grown since.
If your interested, It started with a bunch of classic car guys getting together at the local pub, who decided to invite a few other like minded owners to turn up at The Silver Cup pub on Harpenden common one wednesday evening to have a drink or two. That was about 16 years ago. Word got round and it grew and grew. I attended twice with my 289 cobra before coming to Spain. It was great fun with fabulous cars, and being mid July, great weather too. :D

Scott the Fiat brand manager for Great lakes and I where talking about the price of advertising for 2 weeks before an during the cruise on a local radio station. might I also add the station streams live on the web and Plays the Blues on sunday nights from 9 p.m. to 12 a.m.

Let me just say Fiat is spending the money to get Our Fiat Brand Name out. and in the last fee weeks I have seen 5 on the road, local to me. great to start seeing them on the road. one lady pulled beside me and you could tell see had no idea that the spider i was driving was a Fiat.lol
