Air Filter Adapter Question

Hi Guys

I think I've asked this question before, but I had a different carburetor at the time. I'm working on a '73 Spider that has a Weber / Interco 34/34 DGEV carburetor installed. It has the same style of top as the EMPI 32/36 series carburetor, meaning the top is more oval shaped and symmetrical. There are several "lunch box" style air cleaners available, but I'd like to use my plenum / air intake system with a K & N style filter on the end. The plenum that I have has the standard 5 1/8 inch diameter opening to fit most of your 4bbl carburetors. There are a couple Weber of air filter adapters out there, but they're designed to fit the Weber carbs with the more squared off choke housing. I called Pierce Manifolds and EMPI to see if anything was available for my carb, but I haven't found anything yet. Can anyone help with suggestions on who may have an adapter available for purchase? If I can't find anything I do have a co-worker that can machine one, but I'd rather just buy one if it's available.

I have Empi filters for the dfev and dgev carbs in stock. The dfev style does have an oval opening and the dgev is more rectangular with a little extra space on both ends and one side. Can you post a pic of the top of your carb?

The carb that I have is actually the Weber / Interco Products (Solex) 34/34 DGEC. The top is identical to the photo below, and has an oval lip with a symmetrical bolt pattern. I believe your EMPI 32/36 carbs have the same top.




I have access to several different air filter assemblies for this carb, but what I'm really after is the adapter to go from this top to the standard round 5 1/8 inch pattern. This way I can add my plenum that's designed for 5 1/8 inch carburetors. K & N makes one for the DGV as shown below, but I don't see anything for the carb that I have.



Any ideas on any other suppliers?
