Dual Weber IDF's for 1438

Post by normark »

Is it worth installing dual Weber IDF's in my 1438, or is it just overkill? Got a 34 ADF today.

Of course nothing beats the feeling and the sound of dual Webers, but how will the car perform?

The block is 1438 but the head is actually 1608. I'm not sure, but i think pistons, cams, and the rest are stock

Yes, the sounds and coolness factor alone will be well worth it plus the torque increase will make you..... :D

Dual 40s will work great on a 1438. Some of the very early BC european coupes came with 1438 engines and dual 40s fitted to them

It will work brilliantly if you can handle the initial frustrations of setting them up. I'd say a 34 ADF might be overkill, it delivers a lot more fuel per cylinder than a 40 IDF.

These were the answers I was looking for =)

Looks like the only downside (except initial set up) is that my wallet will be a little thinner than before.

But of course I'm interested if you got a spare set of manifold and carbs! Even though spider point sells a new set with manifold, cars and linkage, I rather buy used carbs if the price is right!

Do it do it do it!

You also will get better fuel economy with these things if you choose...just another benefit.

You'll do far better buying an original manifold off Ebay, then finding new or used carbs. These things are not rare.

You will not be able to use the big FIAT "turtleback" manifold with your hood, so don't bother with trying to buy one.

You mean the turtleback air filter, right? Something else that needs consideration, I mean will all manifolds etc. fit?

Actually I've got a BS hood with the bumps. Will the turtleback fit then?

Just curious, how does the original big Fiat turtleback compare to a pair of "lunch box" filters for power and induction noise? My BC has the turtleback. I don't mind the look, or the current power, but to be honest it makes it a real PITA to check the oil.
