Hello,
Looking for recommendations for body work and paint in the DFW area. Finally getting around to repairing the damage from the May hail storm. I want to get a nice paint job but am not sure what the going rate is - if anybody has had their's painted recently, I'd appreciate some bench mark figures (I don't want to go the cheap Maaco route).
Thanks in advance.

Re: DFW Area - Recommendations Paint & Body Work
Two stage base coat, clear coat, starts at about $1,900 at the discount paint houses and goes up from there. A show-quality paint job can run in the $10,000-$20,000 range at a custom shop. It is all a matter of what you want out of the paint - is it a driver, do you want it to look factory new or do you want a show car? It is a tough decision!
Don't automatically eliminate all of the discount paint shops. The issue will be the body work. Most discount shops don't do a great job on body work.
Some discounters spray a very respectable base coat, clear coat paint job. I would recommend avoiding silver though...most shops cannot do a good job keeping the color even. To see for yourself, go by and ask to see cars that they just painted - Miracle Auto Painting (much like Maaco) painted my Spider about 9 years ago and it still looks very nice. It isn't show quality, but looks very nice. Here are the pictures when it came back from the paint shop and I re-assembled the car. To this day, it looks just as shiny and has held up perfectly.
