FINALLY SHE'S HOME!

My previous posting was titled "Near completion with a paint horror story"

Well, I picked up the car today and man o man is she a beauty! :D She came out better than I had expected despite the error in color. The color shown in this photo again isn't an accurate depiction of the true color, but nonetheless it's gorgeous! :D Suffice it to say, IMO it probably looks better than when new... the only problem now is "yikes" I'm afraid to take it anywhere :(

Since the car's been restored I wanted to insure it for the condition it was in. I've heard one too many times people would restore their cars and just insure it through their regular insurance carrier. The older the car is the less value it has and if something were to happen to it you'd end up getting pennies on the dollar not to mention having to pay a higher premium. On recommendation I called "American Collectors Insurance" for a quote. I couldn't believe what I heard... For full coverage with ZERO deductible and insured for $20K, the yearly premium for this '74 Spider is only $211. Grant it the yearly mileage limit is just 2500 miles, that works perfect for me as I doubt I'd drive it that much anyways.

Because the rate was so good I then asked about my '79 Honda Civic CVCC Wagon which I also restored. With my current insurance I'm paying $250/yr for one way coverage (liability ONLY). The quote from American Collectors Insurance for the Wagon... Full coverage, ZERO deductible and insured for $6K only added $62 to the premium. So for both cars I'm only paying $273 per year - what a SWEET deal :!:

Here's a pic of the car with its ORIGINAL color #312 before paint (THIS WAS THE COLOR I WANTED)

This is the color it is now - Though I would have preferred the ORIGINAL color, I'm happy with the way it turned out.

Great Job! Love those Daytona wheels. Kudos on keeping the original Tjaarda look. I don't think anybody has ever improved on it.
