Hi Guys
I recently picked up another Spider. It's a 1973 model with a 1600 engine. I had an opportunity to really look over the car this evening. It currently has what I believe to be a Weber 34/34 DGEC with electric choke installed. The car sounds rich at idle, and hesitates / stumbles some just off idle, or under a load at lower rpm's. I played around a little bit with the accelerator pump linkage adjustment, and the mixture knob just under the electric choke coil. I wasn't able to make much of a change to the way it runs. The car also has a nice cam cover carb linkage bracket installed, but has what appears to be some type of aftermarket steel braded cable rigged to the bracket. In doing a little research I've found that this car should have a mechanical linkage coming out of the firewall. I have two main questions on this car:
1. Has anyone had any luck tuning this carburetor to these engines? Are there any resources to give me instructions on where to start with jetting, mixture screws, etc? I haven't found much online for this carb.
2. What kind of throttle linkage is everyone using with the 73 and older Spiders? I like to have a precise and smooth feel to my gas pedal, and am looking for ideas. Is there a cable that fits these cars that mounts to the cam cover bracket?
Thanks in advance for the help!
Josh

Re: Need Help with Weber 34/34 DGEC Tuning
im not a mecanic but ive had carb trouble
and what ive learned is to go to the search to find some anwsers
artigue.com has all the fiat building/tuning/electical stuf
sounds like its runing on the main circut "throtle side"
it needs to ldle on the "idle circut"
to see if its on the main look down the carb while idleing
if you see drops of fuel falling your on the "main"
turn the idle screw back at least untill no more drops are falling
the book says "unscrew untill it dont touch then back in 2 turns"
there should be a steady spray just above the bottom butterfly"its hard to see
thats your ilde circut.it shold be set at 2 turns out form bottom "DONT OVER TIGHTEN"just bearly to the bottom
and out 2 turns.then adjust your rpm to 850/900
take it out for a short ride to see if its too lean/rich
hope this helps
