Carpet question

Post by ajnsbdfr »

I have a 1979 Spider 2000 and I'm replacing the beat up old carpets. Does anyone have any opinions/thoughts/suggestions/recommendations as to their preference for the new carpet sets from either Vicks, International Auto Parts, or Auto Ricambi? They seem to vary in price and I was wondering what peoples' experience had been with any of these replacement carpet sets. Thanks!

The set I made out of cornrow-style carpet from Lowes looks 1,000,000 times better than the carpet kit in my other Spider that was "professionally made" and sold by one of the vendors. I didn't get a receipt when I bought the car, but everything else the guy bought was from Bayless and International Auto.

Here is the "professional" carpet kit installed (it looks much better in pictures). It doesn't stay in place very well and really didn't fit all that well either. It is thin carpeting with binding along the edges and a cheap mat sewn into the driver's side.

Here is the one I made from carpeting from Lowes. It look just like the pictures and stays in place perfectly. I paid about $30 if I remember right to have the edges bound by a carpeting store. I like it much better than the carpet kit. Image
