Hi guys - picked up a '73 today that needs from TLC. I'd normally just do it but I live in SoCal and the car is in Sacramento.
Any suggestions for me?
Thanks!

What kind of work does it need?
Maybe some of the other local owners could assist?

So here is my best guess. She sat since 1999. Clutch MC is dry and the brake MC isn't generating any pressure. Not unexpected that sitting for that time period both would go. I've got a couple MG/TRs and if you just look at them sideways the MCs start leaking, so I've been through this drill just not with a 124..
The calipers and/or clutch slave could be bad as well, but the brake and clutch MC are known bad so it seems like the place to start.
If there is anyone local that likes good beer and pizza and likes doing this sort of thing great - but I' do not want to put anyone out and am a bit shy about asking since i am used to earning help by diving under other peoples cars before asking for any (if that makes sense).
Thanks!
Tom

Re: Recommendations on a shop in Sacramento area?
What kind of working conditions do you have?
Tools? What is your schedule? Have you sourced the parts yet?
Where in the Sacramento area are you located?
Are you wanting to try and reseal these hydraulic units or just replace them?
Give me a call at two oh nine-two one seven-four oh-nine-one.
I am off today might be able to drop by if your schedule allows.
By the way, you mention a clutch master cylinder? I don't think you have one. You have separate reservoirs for the front and rear brakes. The clutch should be cable actuated.

We're up here for a wedding (kids are in the ceremony) so have been busy with that, sorry for being slow to respond. We're pretty booked all this weekend with wedding/family stuff so maybe another weekend when we're up here?
Good to know that I don't have to worry about a clutch slave, total 124 newbie here. Just ordered the manual last night.
We'll have to look at the MCs once I pull them to see if they can be rebuilt or need to be replaced. Finding pitting wouldn't be a surprise, but seals are certainly a lot nice expenditure.
Thanks again Roy!

Another option if you can't get together with Roy is to take it to Modern Classic Motors on El Camino Ave in Sacto. They know Fiats quite well and their prices aren't bad either. Lenny who is the Fiat specialist is a good guy.

They were probably talking about the owner who was the Service Manager at Continental Motors a Fiat dealer formerly on Arden Way. He was the Fiat guru for sure. However, Lenny is their current Fiat guy. He just worked on my car about four weeks ago. You might try calling again and asking for him by name.....sure is odd that they'd refer you to somewhere else. They have Fiats there all the time!
