most auto parts stores or even stores like walmart sale a spray carpet cleaner, spray it on give it a couple of minutes to work. use a soft scrub brush to work it in and work out the tougher stains than shop vac. out. the harder stain use spray and wash stain remover for your clothes. if it is grease us a small amount of hand cleaner than go back over witht the carpet cleaner. otherwise you end up carpet the same color as the hand cleaner. hand cleaner and dish soap works on clothes in very small amounts than pour laundry soap over the hand cleaner let it sit a day or 2 than wash.

I have always used 409. Spray it on, work it in with a brush, rinse with a wet towel as best you can, and then shop vac it to get as much water up as you can. Does a good job on all but the tougher grease/oil stains, too.

Tuff Stuff.

Dumb name but I've used it for years. Cheap and works wonders.
