Shifter knob

I know this is not a serious problem, but the shifter knob on my 82 sider 2000 rattles and it anoys me. Does anyone know how to take the knob off so I can get rid of the rattle.

Just turn it counterclock. The end of the shifter is treaded

it's probably the upper shifter that is rattling, there are bushings in the upper lever and they can be replaced

I turned the knob clockwise and it made it quite. it never stoped turning or got tight, but it is quite for now. Thanks for the answers.

It is probably turning 1/2 way up the shift lever. There's a connection between the chome top end and the steel bottom end. Mine does the same and that's where it is turning. I haven't tried to fix it in the two days that I've owned the car.
