80 Spider Came Home

Post by spidernut »

My "new" 80 Spider was trailered home today. My wife couldn't see past the missing interior, loose parts inside and dirt and grime. I spent the entire day removing the interior, cleaning everything up, removing a horrendous wiring job for a stereo, reinstalling the consoles, the entire interior and carpet and washing and waxing the car. My wife could see the potential when I was done for the day. Lots and lots more to do including draining the old fuel (2 years old) and changing all the fluids.

The guy I bought the car from decided to part out his 79 Spider that he was trying to sell. He pretty much has a complete car that he's parting out (the interior is about the worst part). Good engine, good tranny, good differential, good chrome, straight and rust-free body, good top frame and header bow, good chrome. If you need something, private message me and I can provide you his contact info. I don't believe he will ship any parts...you'll have to come and remove them. The car is located in Newcastle, CA.

I was amazed when I looked underneath the 80 I bought from him - I knew it had a rebuilt differential, but hadn't realized that everything (brakes, calipers, trailing arms, panhard rod, etc.) were all new! I thought they had been repainted. I can't drive it until I check to ensure everything is installed right and torqued down, brakes bled, flex joint in good shape...). I did fire it up and creep forward in and out of the garage. Can't wait to take it for a drive!
