KYB GR-2 VS Monroe Sensa-trac/OESpectrum shocks

I am going to replace my front shocks. I know KYB are the ones everyone buys as a stock type replacement shock. But there is also the Monroe Sensa-trac as a replacement shock at about the same price. Looking for opinions and any information before I buy. Thanks !

kyb is what i have and i love them.... after researching i wish i had saved a little longer and gone with the koni's ...can't speak of the sensatracks

I read the Koni's were stiff. I also heard the KYB's tend to be soft. I was thinking maybe the Monroe's were somewhere in-between?

I put Gabriel "Classic" gas shocks on the front and Monroe "Sensatrack" gas shocks on the back. The ride is firm without being harsh.

Isn't the anchor standard equipment under the hood?

I too have heard the KYB GR-2 were soft giving a floaty feel. Think I will order the Monroe Sensatracks and give them a try. I contacted Monroe and they could not give me any comparisons, they just said their #5769 front and #5770 rear are the fiat 124 replacements.

I've got KYBs on my car and it corners pretty well. Ask any of the other So Cal members that have gone on canyon runs with me

I ve been on those runs Mark. I think your jealous of my anchor, the one under the hood that is. I really feel my car is to soft, maybe it will feel better once its lowered a little. Or maybe it justs accelerates so hard that it dosent leave enough weight on the front suspension. It does have the stock 41 year old springs still on it, and they only had to deal with a 1438 before I got the car. Back to those runs, the last time I was on the car didnt handle well enough to keep up with lesser cars in the corners. It was a bit un nerving. Mark you need to make lowering spriongs for early cars.

If you push down on the rear bumper, does it go down easily and a few inches? I have done the bounce test and all 4 corners do what they are supposed to but compared to my other cars, my spider shock travel is more than triple my other cars. I mean my other cars move up and down about 1 inch, the fiat about 3 inches.

Ok the Monroe are not Sensa-track like I thought. They are called OESpectrum. Here is the information if anyone is interested.

# on the "Monroe" box, 5770 ST. These are the sensatrack shocks I put on my 1978 Spider. I think I got them at Advance Auto here in Muskegon.
