run for the cup (Lord Stanley's)

Post by narfire »

Some of the best hockey is on now. I am SOOOO relieved the canuckleheads managed to pull it off last night.
Have to give a big thumbs up for the Chcago goalie though,he played really well the whole series.
Now if Luongo can stand up and stop giving those spring loaded rebounds to the other team, Canucks could actually go far but as usuall any team has to get past Detroit first.

Born and raised here in the suburbs of Philadelphia. Last time the Flyers won the Cup, I was 4 years old. Have a good team, but the goaltending situation....sigh....

that game 7 bwtn Van and Chi was a pretty great game. I'm more than a little bummed about the Kings, they should have beat the friggin Sharks

Beating Chicago definitely got a big monkey off Vancouver's back. Now if they can get back to playing the confident game that got them the Presidents trophy they certainly could be a serious contender. It's amazing how Detroit is always one of the teams to beat. You'd think those old guys would eventually start to fade away.
LA on paper looked pretty good...young, fast and lots of depth. I think it helps Vancouver's chances that LA is out of it now.

Couple of East Game 7's on now. Great stuff, but all for naught, as the Caps will prevail

I've been a Bruins fan since the original six days. Canucks now, of course. Although I'm going to have very mixed feelings in the unlikely event the Canucks and Bruins meet in the Cup.

You've made it into the second round; that's something to crow about. Pronger's back, and looking his usual nasty self. Should be a good series vs. Bruins; they've got a score to settle from 2010. Whoever has the fewest cheap penalties should win the series, but it will take a lot of self-control to keep this from descending into a bar-room brawl.

Caps stack up well against either of you, but first ... Tampa Bay.

A lot of heartbreak in these posts, now :(
Much hand-wringing in DC, but it is apparent that we are far from one or two players away from being a contender.
Chris is still looking good out west - that should be a good series, eh?
Boston and Tampa Bay begin tonight. I think any of these four teams can win it all. Probably several game sevens and OTs!
Any predictions?

Sprinkle a little "pixie dust" on the canuckleheads and I'll go with Jimb :D Even if they are missing a couple of players that helped getting them to this point...Samuelson and Malhotra, but Van does have depth from their farm team.
Once I tell my wife what colour the canucks are playing in, she's even getting into the games :?
This next series should be good, similar playing styles,as I mentioned before though, Bobby-Lou has to stop giving up those spring loaded rebounds :x , The Sharks have a handfull of players that will bury them.

The thing to watch with san Jose, is they will crash the net to force goals in...and to throw the goalkeepers off their focus by getting them angry.

Play off hockey is more about aggressive attacking than pretty plays.

Game just finished...how did Boston win that? Both teams looked sluggish and Boston's power play..huh?
If(when?) the Canuckleheads get to the finals I think they'll sweep if either eastern team plays like that.
See what happens on Wed. in Tampa...91deg F today there, great ice hockey conditions eh.

I'm really hoping the Easter games goes 7 for two reasons; we want them to be as tired and banged up as possible; and I'm in New York until Monday and I don't want to miss any Canucks games :)
