Anyway to lower the seat hight

Post by ctbob »

Hi All, ok I have a problem. I'm a a big guy. 5'11" and pushing 300. Problem is I have short legs, but long body. So when I sit in the Spider my head sticks up over the front window. Yes even with the seat all the way back. Is there anyway to lower the seats? And no I have not tried to but the top up seeing it needs to be replaced. But I'm sure my head with be push on the roof. Thanks for any info. Bob

I looked at this when i had my interior out because i wanted to see how realistic it would be to chop the windshield. I came to the conclusion that you might be able to get an inch or two at best. that would require some major modifications in the floorboard. you have a tranverse structural piece that runs underneath the seat. that is your limitation. that might be replicated on the underside of car. next you would have to modify the seat mounts. they are tapered up so are higher in the front than the back. If you made those flat, you could move the seat up, but the seat would sit much different than stock. the seat itself is pretty thick, but the discomfort in thinning it out may not be worth the effort. If it were me, i would look at have the entire floorboard in the seat travel area dropped. Also 850 spider seats are much lower than 124 spider seats. Sit in one of those would give you a good idea of the comfort level of using a thinner seat cushion.
Anyhow, bottom line...not easily done.
