delrin bushings

Post by royce71 »

I have a set of delrin bushings I got a good deal on a couple of years ago and no I'm trying to decide if I should use them or rubber bushings, I would appreciate any opinions.

I installed the delrin bushes when I rebuilt my front end in the year 2000. The rubber boots on the tie-rod ends and to a lesser degree the ball-joints are cracked and weathered. The delrin is like new. Now sadly I have only logged about 250-500 miles since then. The ride is direct! It is tight and firm. I've heared others complain about the ride being too harsh. I love it, maybe in 20-30 years I'll change my mind. I read on the turbo 124 site that the delrin bushes should be shimmed with self-lubricating metal collar inserts but the venders that sell them claim that the delrin is durable enough and slick enough to rotate without binding. So far I haven't encountered any problems. If I had to do it over I would likely go with the metal collared polyurathane, they are not always available though.

Thank you for your input. I'm thinking of going with the polyurethane. Anybody out there want some delrin bushings?

PM me with your thoughts. I have been considering Delrin anyway. Good luck with your Poly.

Can't comment on the delrin bushings, but I have polyurethane on both my Spiders, my two Scorpions and my X1/9. I think they are a great replacement over the stock rubber on a street driven performance car.
