Luggage Rack
Luggage Rack
What, if anything, do you carry on your luggage rack?
I have a rack on my Fiat and am planning on repainting the car. Does the rack have any use besides using it to close the trunk? Waxing is a pain with the rack. But I would have to do something with the holes when repainting...

if you dont like it, remove it before painting.
Re: Luggage Rack
I would so love to have one of those racks. I doubt you could really use them to hold much but for some reason I think they look cool on a Spider.

Re: Luggage Rack
Just used the rack on mine to haul a couple of folding saw horses to the airport.
Worked great.
I can also foresee using it to transport some of my RC planes in the future.
Wrap the parts in a blanket use a bed of foam and a couple bungees and I could secure a second warbird racer back there.

Re: Luggage Rack
When I was much younger and only slightly dumber, I remember tying a very large inner-tube to my luggage rack of my '74 Spider and heading up the canyon with my girl-friend to go snow-tubing down the hills.
Lots of funny looks on that trip.

Re: Luggage Rack
Years ago, when my wife and I were moving (to another apartment in the same complex), I carried a sofa on my luggage rack.

I wanted one too, but couldn't bear to drill holes... I bought a suction cup setup I can use to attach my garage sale vintage suitcase to for longer trips
Due to recent budget cuts and the rising cost of electricity, gas, and oil, we have decided to turn off the light at the end of the tunnel. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Re: Luggage Rack
I'm going to take heat for this picture... There is one time that i drive the car easy. Not on the highway but on the turns i take it slow. The below design has a good amount fo downforce and the bike is stable. I know.... the luggage rack is not designed for this. But i will tell you it works great and I've driven it over 80 miles on the highway without a hitch.
Buon giro a tutti! - enjoy the ride!

Re: Luggage Rack
Anyone ever throw a short surfboard on a luggage rack? I have some boards that are the same width as the car and with warm weather coming I'm thinking I may need to buy a rack or build one or something. It would be too much fun. I only have to drive about 15 miles on back roads to hit the beach. Suggestions? I don't have a roll bar or a rack... we'll start there.
