rainy day revelations

Post by 81SPIDERMATT »

ok first long trip in the rain
revelation 1... my race car driving habits are not the best idea on a wet road
revelation 2... intermintent wiper switch is noisy... also sounds like it is working to function..might be my imagination
revelation 3... would love to see a wind tunnel video with smoke to see the air going around the car... i think i had the same water droplets on the hood for 50 miles
revelation 4.... i think the windshield rubber is failing... little drops of water on the dash and a small drip on left leg..?????... i remember reading a post about where water is supposed to go... maybe some cowl vent is blocked or something but can not find it now
revelation 5.... my defrost is good for the center of the windshield only... think i need to get to that box and clean out some cobwebs for a little more air fllow
revelation 6 ... the joy of driving a fiat outways the pain of seeing a nice shiny car get all dirty :P

Rain or shine, she sure is fine!

My only reservation about driving in the rain is the reduced ability of other drivers to see me. I remember years ago when the only thing available at Hertz was an SUV, and I was amazed how poor the view out the back was, with the heavily tinted window and all that sheet metal.

You youngn's don't remember always having a clean rag handy to defrost the windshield. I didn't stop carrying one until the '80s, but then had to resume in the 90's to clean up the coffee dribbles in my less-coordinated antiquity

#3 I'm amazed how much exhaust gets in to the cabin with the top down at highway speeds.

#4 two rubber "funnels" empty out of the firewall in to the engine bay. Squeeze the teats and see if any leaves, etc., come out. Garden hose water in cowl to check flow.
