Trans Question re diagrams
Anyone ever see the snap ring in front of, or behind the needle bearing on the input shaft??? (item #5 on page 22 of the Fiat Transmission Manual) When I took mine apart the bearing was in pieces with a bunch of other trash in the hub of the shaft... no snap ring and no spacer..... makes you go Hmmmm as to how its attached if it is inside the hub, or is it supposed to be the needle bearing, spacer and snap ring on the output shaft side of the assembly ( not shown in the manual that way) ??

Re: Trans Question re diagrams
I recall a spacer but not a snap ring in that spot. The spacer is needed to get the end play correct

Re: Trans Question re diagrams
Thanks Mark. Thought I was reading the diagram wrong. Perhaps it is just covering an earlier design

Re: Trans Question re diagrams
Not sure what transmission you have but the older 5 speeds had a few less parts than the newer ones. I had to use a combination of my AS/BS manual and the 5 speed manual to get it all square in my head.seabeelt wrote:Thanks Mark. Thought I was reading the diagram wrong.
