While sitting in the dentist office reading the ONLY car magazine they had, there was a story on drag racing various cars in Texas. They mentioned that a Lamborghini spun out on one run (too much torque), then later crashed at over 200 mph and the driver walked away. They said the video was on Youtube. Here it is for your viewing pleasure: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yS1NU6xj ... re=related
Glad I wasn't in the car!!!

Here's another one that I was peripherally involved in at the time of the accident.

And boy could I tell you stupid stories about the jacka**es in the Gumball 3000 that came through Salt Lake in '06.... that was excess at its' worst. spoiled brats. Bam Magera might be the biggest cry-baby I ever met, and wouldn't quit crying about how heavy his clutch was in his Gallardo. Pink rear-ended me in her Range Rover and drove-away.
When we went to the racetrack, and the MTV Media punks riding with me in a Mustang GT were "astounded" that we were beating MClaren SLR's and and an Enzo and other super-exotics... I pointed-out that they (the "spoiled-brats") were spending too much time IN THE DIRT SPINNING DONUTS, and too little time on the asphalt.
I was never so dissapointed and thrilled at the same time. The machinery was truly eye-popping. but the stories of their stupidity and disregard for law, money and the SAFETY OF OTHERS all the way around the globe just disgusted me.

I'm no Boy-Racer..... but if I can't take every on-ramp at TWICE the posted limit.... I'm a total failure!

I read that there was a fairly strong crosswind. The theory is that when the parachute opened, the wind pulled the chute and the car sideways and out of control.

A chute popping at 200 mph creates a very serious snap.I work on a alchohol dragster ,and the driver says the the G's from the hit of the throttle is nothing compared to chutes blossoming.Watch NHRA vieo in slow motion...scary.

The guys that built that car are here in Charlotte. I believe the shop name is Underground Racing, and they do all sorts of turbos for supercars. They show up at Cars and Coffee every once in a while; pretty sick stuff.
