Hooray for global warming (at least today)

Post by Michael N. Marcus »

It's December 24th. Christmas is tomorrow. It's WINTER. I'm in CONNECTICUT, which is in NEW ENGLAND, which is supposed to be COLD.

The temperature could be 10 degrees, but it's 51 degrees. 8)

No one would complain about 51 degrees in Connecticut in April or September, but it's ridiculous on 12/24.

How do we deal with this abnormality. :?:

Easy.

Find the Fiat keys, take off the car cover, re-connect the battery, check the oil and tires, and head for the beach, just like you folks in California. :D

We may have really messed up Planet Earth, but 51 degrees on the day before Christmas is a wonderful present.

I hope you all get similarly pleasant surprises.

Actually, I find myself here in Michigan for the first time being concerned about what we've done to our world. Global warming indeed.

I believe that this will be the first year we've never had snow in our yard on Christmas Day.

typically, it's about 70 here today. Hard to get in the spirit when it feels like spring. Glad that you're not in Denver, they haven't experienced the global warming yet!

It was 72 and sunny here in NC for Christmas Eve, but never fear...40 and raining for Christmas!
Happy Holidays everyone!

Glad you're enjoying the weather! Obviously a great way to enjoy Christmas!!! :D

I don't want to start a debate on global warming because we'll all have to agree to disassemble our polluting cars. With all the news coverage on global warming and the recent debates in my son's biology class on the subject, I found this interesting. This was taken from an encyclopedia article on paleoclimatology:

Global warming has been taking place since the ice age. There has been a global increase in temperature of approximately 10 degrees (centigrade) over 5 million years. (I'm sure the folks in Siberia are pretty happy about that while those in Africa think it sucks!)

We've had accurate temperature tracking for 150 of the earth's 4.5 billion year history. Based upon geological evidence from the year 1100 to 1900 AD, the northern hemisphere temperature was on the decline headed toward a mini ice age. At the outset of the industrial revolution, temperatures started to rise. There has now been a total climate increase of 1 degree centigrade since its post ice age low.

Interestingly, I read an article on a volcanic explosion that punched a hole in the ozone layer in 2000. Maybe we should ban volcanoes! I think the best solution is to guide a large asteroid so it will hit the planet, block out the sun and plunge us into another ice age.

Last time I ran my heater when it was snowing, my shoe almost melted. That heater sure kicks out the heat!!! Still, I prefer summertime, top down driving.

I drove my '80 for 9 years with a broken heater control valve. actually, it functioned from fully open to half shut.

Talk about melted toes !!

Then, I discovered that the valve could be replaced......just in time for FFO '05 (Missouri). It was 98 degrees in the shade with 98% humidity. Man, i sure was glad that valve closed all the way

We don't think about driving precious iron at this time of year, even if it is in the 40's. Any chance that the salt truck sprays its demon metal eating seed keeps MY vehicles off the road 'til spring.
