removed bumpers now rough ride
I just put new shocks on my 79 spider and removed the tube bumpers frnt and rear. it is a little higher in the rear now and seems to ride like a ridget frame harley,. very rough.. Can I replace the springs with softer ones for a smooth ride? I've got a 77 behind the barn would those springs work better? it would be nice to have a smooth ride. I'm open for thoughts

Sounds like you got too stiff of shocks in there. KYB GR2 are about the best all around shocks. Replacement springs will only be stiffer. What shocks did you install?

What Slo said.
I remember back in the day I was so excited to get my 240Z back from the shop where they installed new Bilsteins all around.
Driving home I was like, "Oh my, what have I done." The thing was like a buck board. It felt like no suspension at all.
But in a few weeks if seemed to kind of break in, was much better, and man did it handle.
Fiat's are funny with ride height though. Seems like anything you do down there affects it. Taking off the bumpers will sure raise it up. The bumpers gone doesn't have anything to do with the harsh ride though.

Gas Shocks? That will raise your car and provide a harsh rise. Spider suspension was designed for hydraulic shocks. Like KONI Yellows
