oil dipstick gasket

Post by tonysfiat »

I am about to start the removal process of the intake manifold on my 79 automatic spider, any ideas where I can get an oil dipstick gasket and a bracket to support the oil dip stick once the new manifold is installed.

OIL DIPSTICK GASKET

Post by manoa matt »

HEY TONY,

THEY HAVE THE GASKETS AT VICK AUTOSPORTS http://www.vickauto.com
CHECK OUT "TRYING TO STOP OIL LEAKS" IN THE GENERAL MANTINENCE COLUMN. THERE ARE SEVERAL DIFFERENT DIPSTICK DESIGNS

Matt

thanks

just my luck the 79

version sku#54-3606 has been discontinued.
Vicks recommends

piece rubber hose, and silicone.

I asked about other models you had listed they claim they would not work on the 79.

Check your email. I have your bracket covered, but you need to respond to the request.

Back in the 80s some GM engines were sealed with high temp silicone. Get some carb cleaner and clean mating surfaces, then apply silicone to stick tube, slide it in ,secure and give some time to cure. It will work!!!

only if the tube is secured so it can't move at all, and be careful that the sealer doesn't run down into the pan

For some reason, the email bounced back. Look for it again, from my work address.

I hope you get it soon. If not ... holler and I will try a third time.

TWO LITRE dipstick gasket

Fiat Part Number 82324106

I found one for my greedy self. Unfortunately, my source did not have any others to spare.

Fortunately, we all have the factory part number now.
