Vitaloni reproduction mirror critique

I purchased a pair of the Vitaloni reproduction mirrors from IAP:
http://www.international-auto.com/index ... sid=889595

I mounted the mirrors on both sides of my car. The holes in the drivers side mirror lined up identically with the holes from the original mirror. Regarding the passenger side: IAP says "Made for driver's side; can be mounted to passenger side but hole pattern will be different." The mounting doesn't match, but I think they look just fine--you'd never notice unless you studied them.

When the top is down it's easy to look over your shoulder to check the right hand blind spot before changing lanes, but the mirror provides a good view back there when the top is up.

These mirrors have black surrounds-unlike the original that had white plastic. The surrounds are soft--unlike the original mirror plastic.

Also, the mirrors have a bit of negative magnification--making the field of view larger than the originals. I'm very happy with my new mirrors. Now I've got to get on with the rest of the restoration!

Glad to read your post - I've been considering those mirrors myself when I get my car back on the road. I've got a '79 with the ugly (to me) black flag-style, remote controlled mirror. I find I can never get the remote to position the mirror "just right"; besides, I think the older style chrome looks nicer.

I have a '79 with the clunky black mirror as well. I never had the remote for it working, so we replaced it with this mirror, except a cheaper ebay version. The mirror has only been on the car for a year and it's already rusting and it never stays straight. I'd definitely spend the extra few dollars to get one like this, it'll last longer and hopefully be much more secure. Plus they look 1000x better.

I'm also thinking of fender mounting my mirror. I've always thought that was a neat look, any opinions on that.
