Can I get some feedback on comparing two carbs for the Fiat Spider?
34 ADF vs. 32/36 DFEV.
I have read that the 34 ADF is the best single carb upgrade choice, however, a salesman told me the 32/36 would produce more torque at the lower end than the 34 ADF.
Currently running the anemic stock carb and manifold. I do have an 1800 manifold ready to go.
I was outbid at the last second on a sweet 34 ADF (1 year old) with a turtle back air cleaner and 1800 manifold. Sale price for all was $310. I was pissed I did not bid higher.
Thanks
Single carb upgrade
Hi Brian
The ADF is the best choice in my opion as for torque at the lower
end it might ? just cause the pm butterfly is smaller but thats
about it .
If your looking for an easy swap the ADF is it for your Car linkage
and Air Filter fit nothing else needs to change .
I have an ADF on my 79 and it made a differnce i can feel it .
Hope this helps

If i might, since you already have the 1800 manifold.....
Are you talking the 28/32 for a '79 or '80 as the exiting stock carb? I just finished this surgery.
For $295.00 + 19.95 = $314.95 you can get a BRAND NEW 32/36 and a rectangular 2 1/2" or 1 3/4" air breather from Weber Direct. Free freight! http://www.webercarbsdirect.com (800) 871-3405 ext 103... ask for Jose.
Once I got my 1800 manifold in place the new carb out of the box bolted right in place, as did the air breather. I did not make ANY adjustments to the carb to get the vehicle to run. Next spring, some tinkering may take place.....but, I ran it 30 miles down the road at highway speed fresh from the box.
Whoa man, am i a happy camper!
Sorry, can't direct you on the two different carbs other than to ask...doesn't the 34 want a different cam to go along with it?
and if you are talking the '79 or '80, are you aware of the issues with the extra egr port from the exhaust manifold?
and, if you are talking the '79 or '80 intake manifold....be aware that there is a seventh mounting bolt that the 1800 intake does not have!! Wow, I almost cracked my block before I found out this little bit of information.
send me an email if you want more information on my exact experiences.
And, do not forget that if you are dumping emissions equipment, that there are other boys and girls that might be able to use that stuff. Don't (please) just pitch it!!
