Upgrade options for my 1600

Post by thechadzone »

So I'm sitting here in another weekend seminar at the University of Oregon, and rather than paying attention, I'm thinking of my car.

I'm wondering about carb upgrade options for my 1600. I'm pretty sure it has the "dual plane" manifold, and I think I've read that this will affect my carb options. However, it's been a few years since I've researched this. I doubt that the 1800 single plane manifold would have the same water plumbing that it'd need for the 1600 head, am I wrong? Would a 36 mm secondary butterfly still work on the dual plane manifold if a spacer exists between the carb & manifold? It’ll eventually have a dual DCOE set-up, (Coupe) but I’m less than rich at the moment…

Are there any other considerations or upgrades specific to the 1600 that I should know?

you can put an 1800 manifold on a 1608, a single plane with a 36+mm carburator would be great!

That is the next step performance wise that I want to make with my 1600. I recently read Brad Artigue's article and came to the same conclusion you did. http://www.mirafiori.com/faq/fiatcarb_july2004.pdf
Now I'm looking for an 1800 intake single plane and will likely go with a 32/36 DFEV. That seems to be the week point of the stock 1600.

Anybody know of a good place to get an 1800 intake? Bruce's? Others?

Beek,

Please PM me if you find one you can part with and let me know what you want for it.

Thanks.
