Shifter boot options on a 124 sport

Post by TJC »

I originally posted this in the Cosmetics forum, but thought it should've gone here.......

On my Spider, I'd like to ditch the leather boot for an old fashioned rubber accordion-type boot on the base of the chromed shifter shaft (maybe going up just to cover the joint between the two shafts).

Has anyone fitted a rubber boot in place of the leather one on 124's? I really like that look of a small rubber boot, so I've tried to retrofit an another inner boot and attach it to my rather nice wooden center console top (i.e., I'm looking for a solution that doesn't need to have that wooden piece modified), but it just doesn't fit right.

Has anyone found a rubber boot that either fits right out of the box or has been easily modified to fit a 124 sport (maybe from another Fiat model)?

I'm interested in hearing/seeing your different ideas.

Thanks!
