Removing rust / Replacing area behind pedels.

Hey all, don't know if this is the correct section to ask if not let me know.
Today I removed all the carpet and seats from my CS1 body to look for rust. The bottom was great except for a spot behind the pedals, it looks like this:
I know I have to cut that section out, I don't have any welding experience nor a welder, but I was thinking if cutting it out and getting s sheet of steel a little larger and boling it down over the cut portion and then painting over with POR-15 or something similar, would that work/be reliable?
Similarity, if there is a body shop / welder in the Toronto region any of you would recommended I'm all ears!
Any tips?
Thanks

many owners pop rivet patches over small areas, then seal it

Thats what I did. Eastwood sells a great brush on seam sealer in a can.

Don't just put it over the rust, though or it'll rust like crazy. I'd at least wire wheel, treat with a rust remover, (I like POR15 Metal Ready) and paint with a good anti-rust paint, (prefer MasterSeries).

What is the difference between Por15 and Masterseries? Are they not the same/used similarly?
Can I wire wheel/sand the rust away, use something like Por15 to treat the area then bolt the metal piece and use por15 again over that?
o I have to order these products from their website or would Lowes have them?
Thank you again!

Yes, they are similar products, I just like the MasterSeries better. They are both moisture cured urethanes, much better than
Rustoleum and such. I doubdt Lows' will have it, but my local autobody supply stores do carry the POR15.

I get my POR 15 from a bodyshop also, (im sure you can order it online somewhere). I used it on the frame and front and rear axles for my '83 Toy 4x4, it works great. But if I can give my two cents in about the metal repair, I would cut and replace before covering up. Covering up is the quick easy way, but you always run the risk of corrosion coming back.

I like the Master Series better also. I've used both and it seems like it goes on thicker.
Unless you can push through that section. I wouldn't even cover it. Try taking a screw driver and see if you push through any of that area.
