Rockville, Maryland Classic Car Show, October 16

This year's featured marque is "all Italian Cars". Italian vehicles will form the centerpiece of several hundred cars in this terrific show. Entries from all along the East Coast and beyond make this the premiere car show in the Washington, DC area. DC Fiats traditionally brings dozens of Fiats, and this year should see a record turnout, particularly with Alfa's 100-year anniversary.

Early registration ends September 10. Spectators are admitted Free.

Bernie - Would this be a target rich environment to buy a Spider? I so hate to wait until October though!

No, I don't think so. But it would be a good opportunity to see the differences in various model years, options, colors, etc. and talk with owners. You should be able to find a Spider owner who had similar expectations and goals as you when he/she picked their car.

Thanks a bunch. That does allow the impulsive teenager in me (albeit 50 year old teen) to move swiftly on a purchase in August when I get back to Virginia.

The 49th Rockville Antique and Classic Show was blessed with blue sky, dry grass, and temps in the sixties. A special display of Italian cars and motorcycles dominated the center of the field. The good weather and beautiful cars made for a record turnout with more than 600 cars on the show field and 10,000 spectators. DC Fiats also had a record turnout with more than 30 members cars on the line.

I got rope-a-doped into getting there early to help park cars. DC Fiat drivers can really negotiate curves, but have a bit of trouble parking in a straight line



This absolutely gorgeous Ferrari, one of about ten in the world, was the one of first to arrive.



761 original kilometers and a complete restoration, including matching luggage.



As the sun rose, the entrants began arriving in droves. The sound of several barely-muffled 12-cylinder engines attempting to keep their plugs clean was a glorious thing.



By the time the gates opened at 1100, all our cars were parked; engines cooling and drivers lubricating

It wasn't all Italian iron, of course. There was something for everyone.







But there was no question as to the stars of the show. Here a red car, there a red car, everywhere a red car.





The Peoples Choice Award went to Robert Phillips of Arlington, Va. who brought his 1955 Ferrari 500 Mondial. The retired admiral has owned the powder blue 4 cylinder race car since 1960 and still drives it at vintage track events. He once drove it from New York to San Francisco
