Re: Ford Trucks?
It's really interesting how some people say how great of "luck" they have with a vehicle and another will say the exact same car is a total POS. I hear it at work all the time. Makes me wonder if the difference is "luck", or the owner. I don't think I've ever had what I would consider a bad car, but I take care of mine and don't drive like a moron.

I think you may have something there, Trey. I don't believe I've ever had a bad car either...except maybe an X19...or, make that 3 X19s, but I'm forever trying to catch up on stuff the PO neglected on those cars. All of mine get meticulous maintenance and if something does fail, I don't consider it doomed, I just fix it and go about my way. I have been extremely lucky with no catastrophic failure like a transmission or engine, but I usually only get around 250k miles out of them before a tree gets in their way.

Re: Ford Trucks?
I've had two truly "bad" cars:
1. 1990 Ford Aerostar. Transmission went at 2,000 miles, AC compressor self-destructed after warranty expired. Engine would sometimes just stop when idling at a stoplight, plastic?!? valve covers leaked oil, and a bunch of other issues. Traded it in on a Toyota Previa when it had just 22K miles (that Toyota is still running 17 years and 210K miles later).
2. 1974 Austin Marina. Lucas electrics - needed a new alternator every year, transmission rebuilt, hydraulic clutch cylinder, could not be aligned, needed new front tires every 10K miles, ignition switch and hazard light switch fell apart, speedo cable broke, can't remember what else, but it was towed many times. Gave it to my brother after 30K miles and got a brand new 1978 Fiat 128 3P, which was a pretty good car.
