Mark... I agree with what you say above and more ... but before anyone here brands me as some trouble maker or someone quick to make criticisms on other's mods in bad taste let's look at how many have commented on other mods...

I'm sure there are other threads but I'm not going to waste more time on this thread and leave it at that, to each his own the final verdict will be on resale and if they can recoup the value invested in these cars after the mods... truth be told I think they made the car lose a lot of it's value. :(

dood....
I think you're probably right.
It's been a pisser of a day. this is Christmas Week for hell's sake... and I worked a 15 hour sit-down at my desk. not a happy day. So I s'pect I coulda used some prozac... if only I knew someone who'd prescribe me some.

Anyway: My apologies to anyone I offended. Particularly the two whom I referred to as Snobs..... as I'm sure they're not.

Just remind me not to send y'all pics of the Carbon Fiber hood & trunk-lid I just finished.... I don;t think I could bear the critique!

I promise I won't be harsh on my critique as long as I have a sample hood and lid sent to me for final inspection...... :)

no offense taken by me, and it has been a hell of a week so far. 13 hr days at work and trying to get ready to host 32 people for dinner on Christmas Eve  I can't wait for the "holidays" to end when it's just work and no extra curricular activities!

I steer clear of the threads that bash Fiats that have been modified. Most of us that go to the Fiat shows go to enjoy being with friends. My half tube bumper was an attemt to make something out of nothing, and in the end I did not really like it, but thanks to everyone for not hurting my feelings!

well, just to be clear: (and yes, here I am at the office again... 5am in my neck of the woods  )
i wasn't worked-up about the bashing of mods ('cuz I can certainly agree on some), but more the idea that was offered, which suggested that only those who design for a living should design. And to be sure, I think they do the best job! it's hard to beat a guy at what he does for a living! :D
I was only hoping there would be some allowance for moments of brilliance by guys who don;t get a check from pininfarina, or ?

but 'nuff said.
Kumbaya y'all!

Was I one of the snobby people. If I was I am sorry I was not trying to be.
I do like two tone doors but not the ones in the car we started talking about.

As for weird mods. I keep having this urge to swip the fin shape sign mounted on top of the pizza delivery guy car (I think its dominos). Paint it black and put it on my trunk. It would make my car look like a shark or the italian version of the batmobile. I would only leave it on long enough to take photos and annoy my neihbors.

DOes anyone have a Fin Shaped Pizza Delivery sign.

Maytag... no apologies needed... it's all cool, no offense taken. :D

I'm sure the carbon fiber hoods will look great and I love these types of mods that make a regular Spider look like an Abarth machine. 8)

We've all been working hard trying to get ready for the holidays and such... all water under the bridge and I hope everyone has a cool EggNog Rum soaked drink on me. :D

Happy Holidays to everyone...

Back in '82, a friend of mine owned one of those Datsun roadsters. He used to beat my '71 Spider in every single race.
I was always jealous :P ... Even though my car DID look better. :D

Agreed:
the Datsun was trying too hard to figure-out what it really wanted to be. The lines lacked any real flow. It was like it couldn't decide if it wanted to be an MG or an Alpha.
But still a fun car, and one not readily recognized by most people.

I missed most of this thread until now, I hope this forum doesn't become so Politically correct that you can't say anything. I'm not at all against mods that make a car cleaner or nicer, but some are most definitely in poor taste, (at least IMHO). I think that sometimes the manufactures have conrtraints, (cost, crash ratings, manufacturing, etc), that can compromise designs. Just don't pick on my car :)
