pull the cam cover and use a piece of wood to jam a cam lobe against the side of the casting. make sure you have broad support so you wont crack the casting. this is a lot firmer hold and doesnt rip up your belt.
Speaking of athletic dogs, my kid just got a dog that was supposed to be around 40 lbs. it is a border collie type dog that is now bigger than my 95 lb polar bear. It gets it's jollies chasing coyotes, and seems to have no trouble running them down. He is just a pup and thinks this is great sport. On the other hand, the coyotes dont appreciate it much.

Why are you trying to get the bolt out?? If bolt is that tight, pin ain't sheared, gear didn't move. If you must create more work for yourself......
Get a chain wrench, wrap around pully, then breaker bar and socket on bolt. They rent chain wrench most places, or go to Sears and buy one.
Using the belt to hold the pulley still really micky mouse.

He may have German Border Collie in him. The Germans bread these dogs to be significantly bigger than what you typically see in the States. They also hate show breeders because intelligence does not win shows and breeders do not care about it. They bread Border Collies to between 80 and 95 pounds. My dog could show in Germany but here the ACA does not even recolonize him as a Border Collie due to his size.

More to come on the car tonight.

That explains it. Years ago I had a dog that I found in the woods when he looked 6months or so, looked border collie to me, he grew to near 100lbs, and was the brightest, toughest dog I ever had. Now have another border collie, bout 50lbs, sweet, athletice, but a whole diff dog.
Back to Fiats...

Well guys we final got the intake cam pulley off and it is fine. We replaced the timing belt and tension pulley and aligned both cam pulleys and aux pulley to TDC on the crank. We completed a compression test and cylinders 1-4 read 146, 150, 152, and 144 accordingly. Before we put everything back in we tried starting it but got no fire.

We checked spark out of the coil and at each plug using the associated spark plug wire (plug2 wire2) and all plugs are sparking when grounded to the exhaust manifold. We also measured the two ground wires connected to the plenum and one measured 1.1 Ω from one and 1.7 Ω from the other. All resistance measurements for the coil and pickup also passed but the car would not fire at all. So we reassembled everything and tried again and it fired up immediately. I guess the ATM needed to talk to the ECU.

We got it timed and decided to go for a test drive but the clutch pedal does not appear to be engaging anything. I will read through the manual tonight but probably will not touch the car till Saturday. I thank you all for the help. One step at a time.
