Re: How many miles on your Spider?
100k miles on my '74. 10 years of that was sitting immobile in a driveway in California before it was imported to Australia. When it arrived here it stil had the original blue and yellow registration plate on the rear, with a 1988 sticker on it.

Re: How many miles on your Spider?
The odometer on my 78 says 04751. It was owned by little who only drove it a 1/2 mile to church on Sundays and knitting class. So in real life its 104751 I dont thinks its rolled over twice but who knows. Also can not be sure if this is the original odometer in the car.
Dosen't the DMV record the numbers each time we register the cars? I am guessing there is a way to check what the the miles where for at least the last 5-10 years if the car was regisitered.

Unfortunately most of the databases don't go back that far. It depends how far the individual State tracks the history. Here's the link for info: http://www.nmvtis.gov/ I sure wish that I could see the history on my cars too!

Re: How many miles on your Spider?
125,000kms on my 1981. Approx 75,000miles per my quick conversion.
Re: How many miles on your Spider?
Mine has 38K. I would be inclined to believe that it was 138K except that it has the original blue interior and the carpets and foot pedals just don't say 138K. Add that to the stock and untouched spare tire in the trunk, and that leads me to believe that they are original.
Re: How many miles on your Spider?
My 1980 had 129k when I wrecked it.spidernut wrote:How many original miles do you have on your Spider? There are so many that claim under 100K - I'd love to know the average on the forum!
Me:
1979 - 40,000 - original miles
1980 - 82,000 or 182,000 - don't know for sure
My 1981 had 96k when I wrecked it.
My 1983 has 113k (not yet wrecked).

95k on my 82. I have a file of maint records back to 1983 and there is no record of any internal engine repairs. I do however have many records of the common repairs for these cars.

Re: How many miles on your Spider?
Just about to hit 271,000 on my 1969 124. My dad put the first 150K on it and I've put on the last 121K. Alvon and I drove it to Texas , then to Missouri and back to California a couple of years ago when it was invited to the Italian Carfest of the Southwest. Ran perfect the entire way.
