In German, you pronounce virtually every letter of every word. Thus Porsche sounds like Porsha. Most English words do not pronounce the '"e" at the end when it is alone, as in "more people". Thus many English-speaking people mis-pronounce Ferdinand's last name as Porsh. One exception is ie or ei where you pronounce the 2nd of the two letters.

Now how about FIAT. I have heard it pronounced fi'-et, fi-at' and fi'-yaht. Because it is an acronym, one could argue there is no correct pronunciation.

Down under, it's Fi-ATT. Jay Leno says something like Fi-YART.

I heard teh Car Talk guys give a new twist on this:
"My Illinois antique tag for my '74 reads "HUBRIS".
It's Latin, meaning "a great folly due to an excess of ego"."

For those in the white stuff: Subris: a great folly of those who own a Subaru due to an excess of ego

I luved it :-)

Wow, what an awesom AS Spider, FiatFreak! Absolutely beautiful.

Good ones, Rey. You'll have to come on down if you're a Kyle Petty fan. His Victory Junction camp is less than an hour away.
