Patched and dyed the center console today, carpets and boot seal arrived, this thing is moving along quickly! In the process I cracked the holder for the fiberoptic light that plugs into the DEF FAN switch. Does anyone have one of these lying around?
Console out and cleaned, patched, primed, and dyed black.
New foam for the outer seal:

Pete, what happened to your pictures on the first & second pages?
I'll be tackling this project as soon as my new garage is done and I have my car back out of storage.
And what did you end up using to fix your console? Bondo? I was thinking of replacing mine but...maybe there's hope for a repair????

Here are the links to photobucket, where there are a bunch of pictures. Not sure why they disappeared, I didn't delete or move anything that I am aware of, but maybe I did inadvertently.

I am a little embarrased to admit that I used bondo. It is probably not the best repair material for a flexible piece like the console, but I couldn't find anything better in the time frame available. Need something that is easy to apply, is flexible when cured, and is sandable and paintable. I does not adhere well to the exterior layer vinyl, but it does adhere well to the underlying foam, which is actually an advantage when you are sanding it after set. I hope it doesn't crack too badly over time, or I will be tearing it out again. So far so good.
