agreed once again. Here is something that puts it into perspective:
Why the U.S. was downgraded:
* U.S. Tax revenue: $2,170,000,000,000
* Fed budget: $3,820,000,000,000
* New debt: $ 1,650,000,000,000
* National debt: $14,271,000,000,000
* Recent budget cuts: $ 38,500,000,000
Let's now remove 8 zeros and pretend it's a household budget:
* Annual family income: $21,700
* Money the family spent: $38,200
* New debt on the credit card: $16,500
* Outstanding balance on the credit card: $142,710
* Total budget cuts: $385

Agreed, really great way to look at it. It's been growing since 71'. Not so coincidentally that is the same time we as a nation started consuming more than we produced. Go figure!! Politicians are desensitized to trying to fix a problem that has been getting worse for some time. The average person is absolutley baught in to the normalcy fallacy. You know, the one that works something like this. “nothing has happened before, it won’t happen now”. The longer we go without fixing the problem the more people think it is not a problem that will not hurt them and the worse the problem gets. The deck of cards is being built too high.

We are at 15,275,000,000,000 not 14,271,000,000,000. But what is a trillion dollars anyway????
Rome is about to burn and all the citizens are worries about is where to get the marshmellows before the fire starts!!
yep, that drive with the top down in the brisk night air is sounding better each minute.

Only now, for some reason, (which actually is obvious to almost all of us) does POTUS want to block it. I will say this one last thing and then leave this for another time and forum, as my blood pressure gets too high. The current POTUS is the greatest fool to ever occupy the Oval Office. A complete fool, he proscribes to the Bellamy philosophy; Utopian school from the mid 1800's. He is trying (successfully so far) to drive us into a Euro-style nanny state. God please help save us from this absolute fool. There I feel better now. On to something else.
At least Barney Frank is retiring

I live in his district. We have fought long and hard for decades to vote him out. Massachusetts, even though infested with the political left, consistently votes about 30% conservative, election after election. But we can almost never get up to critical mass. It is a shame, but we do continue to try. The Scott Brown election was a great victory and frankly quite a surprise. We had expected the machine to steamroll in as it had so often done for Ted.

You can bet if we all turned to solar panels they would start taxing those too. All levels of government in every country are corrupt, just some more than others. Governments will never reign in spending, that is where politicians make their money. They will only shift the spending to a different category when they have figured out how to cash in on it. We have the technology to eliminate much of our gas and oil usage now but it doesn't happen? And so on, and so on............
