I've been talking to the procar guys about the 1300 seats. I think they look really good, have any of you installed these in your car? are there pics? I searched, but didn't find any. They look pretty authentic to me. It's a shame I have to get the mounting brackets for my '81. How hard would it be to make my own? is it just a steel bar? Or is there welding involved?

I feel like I've seen someone install procar seats.

How much are they? What do they wack you for the mounting kit for the 81'?

They look pretty nice.

I am finding a lot of aftermarket seats that are loads more supportive that the original just sit too high, for me who has the driver’s seat on the other side and on top of the cat hump, doesn't leave much room from my head.
I'm, 173cm tall (average to short I guess??) and with a helmet on it is very difficult to move my head to look in my mirrors (I have to have the roof up), I'm off to a track this coming Tuesday and will put my original seat back in to see if I have better vision....otherwise I love the support of my SAAS seats

You think the original seats are too high? I think they are a bit low. Although I'm 185.5 cm or 6'1". My head pops out the top a little. I think I just need to get used to being so close to the ground. I usually drive a mini van. A bit higher.

I was all set to get those same seats, they look great and are a very close match to the originals. I inquired about the brackets that they will make for you, thinking they had done many for Spiders in the past. The Procar guy informed me that they had "done maybe a couple" and hasn't heard anything from the buyers so he "assumes" they worked fine. I told him I'm in no position to modify anything he sells me, I NEED a complete drop in. He said again, "I can only assume they'll fit". :!:
I decided to find an original, which I did and it's in really good, solid shape, and will eventually cover them with the slip-ons from IAP.

no, the other way around, the origianal seats are low, the after market ones sit much higher, did the track day, but didn't have time to sawp the seats but did change my mirrors which made a massive difference in rear view..

My main driver is a 92 miata that has high back bucket seats that are quite low in the car and give good support for agresive cornering. The seats from the older miatas are thinner than the newer ones and might be worth a look.

it's often the base of all the seats are different to the spider. The original seats sit in the seat channels where a lot of other seats I've seen are flat on the bottom, effectively raising the height, in sayin that I haven't had a chance with a Miata (we got them as MX5) seat, anybody out there has a pic of an Miata seat base??
