Today I cut in the access panel to the transmission tunnel this will allow me to adjust the control rod from the power shifter unit in the rear of the car. The blue cable in the upper picture.

NOTE TO SELF............Italian car...all metric......GM transmission in Italian car Not So!

The early metric cars even those abroad required you to have both metric and standard tools and hardware to work on them. It was a major inconvenience to have to switch back and forth even when working on the same part depending on what each section was bolting too.

Very true, I had forgotten this and it led to several trips to the hardware store....I finally got smart and broke out the trusty tap and die set to measure an exemplar bolt from the transmission pan to get the correct bolt ...5/16 x 18.

Those are great pics, but my worst nightmare!

Whenever I see the wiring exposed, it shows my lack of knowledge!

Thankfully, I have a great crew of Fiat Enthusiasts around.

Actually that mess is my "infinity box" system, it really is not tha bad I just have not cut back any of the wires as I am still playing around with the final location of the different parts. I have learned never to cut stuff until everything is set. The module hanging down is on a hinge and will rotate up under the dash it is the command module for the system. When it is done there will only be one physical switch in the car (except for column controls), the rest will be controlled by a mounted Kindle Fire tablet.

Ok, what is exactly is an infinity box and what are you bolting into the spider?

Infinity Box ( used to be ISIS until Isis became bad) manufactures modern electrical systems for vehicles. Instead of individual power leads, relays and switches you have a master control module that connects to power control modules in the front and rear of the car via a CAN bus (4 small wires that carry millivolt signals). Each power control module has 10 independent power outputs that turn on and off with signals from the master module each output is individually fused. I also have their interface module that plugs into the master module with a CAN bus this module has a wifi signal unique to it which allows me to pair it with any wifi device (password protected) to control all switch functions.

The reason I have to tunnel open is so that I can install the bracket that will hold the push pull cable connected to the PCS wireless shifter controlled by the paddle shifters.

Ok so the transmission linkage is completed,,,,,,what a pain!! I had to custom fabricate the brackets using 1/4 inch stainless. I have attached a link to the video of the system working, hopefully the link works. I tried photobucket but it will not load.

looking good .... still following and enjoying ..... maybe I missed it but did your seat base work out so you can use those seats you wanted ? I like the rivnut solution for your cover .... great little hardware those rivnuts

Thanks, the seats are still an issue, I will not be using the GTO seats the convertible top frame hits them on the side. I do have a set of 70's Porshe 911 seats that I am going to try.......I have been concentrating on the electrical and shift stuff.

Pat, this is looking super sweet!

In my race car, we bolted aftermarket (Sparco) sliders straight to the floor after removing the seat rails and cross rail entirely. We added brackets between the seat bottom and the top of the rails to get the seat bottom pad angle correct for my legs, so sliding the seat does not change the angle or height of the seat.

The seats are Sparco R100 models since the race rules stipulate no penalty for "Performance folding seats". If I could, I would run fixed back seats due to the same width issues you are having. Abarths have fixed back old school buckets.

The rails are fastened through with 3" custom washers, bent as required to clear other features in the floor.
