The only reason I ask is because I have a powder coating gun and oven. I wanted to powder coat my stock springs and was told not to do it. They sure look good.

Well I would think it would be ok to coat your stock ones. Of course as we all know Fiat used 100% awesome super power wonderbread style steel...... That might be why people have said not to bake the original springs, but I do not have all the info that's just my best guess.

At the 400ish degrees used by most coaters, you won't hurt steel springs at all. You would need to get them to glow before it became an issue.

I thought I heard that you don't powder coat springs because the paint is rigid and it will crack.

I pulled a set off a parts car that looked to be several years old, and they were near perfect once I cleaned them. Just yellow powder coat. Did look a bit dull. Could have been that I scuffed them while cleaning. No paint cracking though.

If the springs are powder coated the temp is relatively low, in the 200 F. range. You have to heat the springs to more than 750 F. to start losing the heat treat.
