Replacement dash pad?

Has anyone tried this technique? I've got an extra cracked dash I thought I'd try this on. Looks like it'll work:

it actually works better on the older dashes.if you want it to look real goo you have to peel the old vinyl of the foam underlay and fill any cracks. then just spray it wait a few minutes for it to get relly sticky, then just work it around with the heat gun. the trick is make sure you have a big enough piece of material as it shrinks a bit and as you work it and if your not careul you end up with a corner exposed. the only difference with this and the fancy $600 pllus replacement is they do it with a vacum. but the same principal applies.

Good thing you asked about it. I already went and bought the Great Stuff. You know, the can foam stuff you use for insulation in cracks?
Since the website doesn't tell you how to get it, I called my automotive paint supplier and was told he could order it for $23 a tube. I'll let you know how it works.
