If it was late March or April, we'd be rejoicing in these current temperatures! I keep reminding myself of that while shivering with the top down over the weekend :D There is frost on all of our pumpkins around here.

...you know exactly how many packages of toilet paper will fit
in the car when the local grocer runs a super-sale: nine; 6
in the trunk and 3 behind the seats. If my husband does not
go to the store, add 2 on the front seat and 1 on the passenger
side floor. Likewise...
...you're out shopping and you know exactly how many bags can
fit in every available inch of space (w/ the top up & down
depending on the weather)
...she talks back to you while discussing the days events on the
way home from work, and it makes you feel better
...you just know she is 'cheating' on you with the mechanic!

... your wife says, "You love that car more than you love me!" and you reply, "Now sweetie, you know I love each of you equally."

Matt, great line about parking next to those other cars

...when you have a beautiful and fast Alfa Romeo GTV in the garage and you would rather drive the Fiat.

And, Matt, I'm typing this from work.

Replace "Alfa Romeo GTV in the garage" with "Wife in the house".

Great thread.

I look at my pile of parts and smile.
I look forward to a day with a blue sky WHEN my car is in driving shape!

Have earphones or earplugs in the glovebox.

Installed a stereo but don't listen to it.

In traffic - Stare intently at the temperature gauge even when you know the cooling system is working fine and water pump is new.

Have a towel in the back seat. Just in case it rains and the softop has a leak.

Have an assortment of fuses, tape, electrical wire in glove box.

Have a set of wrenches/sockets, 3 types of oil and a repair manual in the trunk when driving more than 50 miles. again even when you know the car is running great.

Smile when you take your kids for a top down ride.

Grin at the sound and feel of the car perfoming well at high RPM.

And yes..... I do have parts catalogs and a manual in the throne room. I even bring my smart phone in there and browse Fiats and parts for sale on evil bay.
Buon giro a tutti! - enjoy the ride!

when after 15 yrs of marraige you leave you wife scratching her head because you just volenteered to go get her personal items just so you can drive you spider.

When your ash try is filled with just enough quarters for the nearest quarter car wash. In case a bird doesnt like red cars that day. And you would rather stay out than go home and try to find a reason to leave again.

When you would rather drive a broken spider than the new car in the drive !

When sun block is part of your tool kit

...you know what a gulp valve does
...you look at wiring as artwork, not science
...part of your routine locking up the house at night is to step into the garage and admire your car
...and....you are happier than anyone else you know!

.....you smile as you accelerate into a turn.
.....you smell raw gas when you roll down a window going down the road.
.....you expect the guy at the pump next to you to inquire as to the make of the car at the gas station.
.....you wonder if anyone else on the road is having as much fun as you are.
.....you have a reliable Spider as a daily driver and are on the prowl for another Spider anyway.
.....you wonder if a machine can actually have a soul.
.....you know that that cloud of smoke in the cabin is from the bad seal on your distributor shaft.
.....you know the amount of brute force, grinding and heat it takes to drive the pin out of your distributor drive gear.
By the way, thanks Mark! That new seal works great.

.....when fiatspider.com AND mirafiori.com are included as your hompages.
.....when friends, aquintances and strangers associate you with "that" fiat spider (and I drive a RR and a Jag)
.... you know the designer of the engine by name and would never forget the company that designed the body

when you shop for a long sleeve, light weight, white dress shirt for driving attire.
when you delight at finding a full brimmed hat with a floppy back
when you carry a stretch-on steering wheel cover under your seat
when you prefer to sand your car by hand rather than use a sander
when you install seat heaters so the wife will be willing to top-down in the cool
when you park out in the back 40 of the parking lot next to the pimped out honda
when you dont want to bother with installing a radio
when you have nightmares about getting senile before the car is roadworthy
