Keys locked in trunk, crap!!!!
Re: Keys locked in trunk, crap!!!!
John, I have been trying to open my trunk through the hole that the plastic insert goes through for about an hour now. Is there some sort of trick to it? I've been poking around in there with a coathanger and I just cannot get it open. If you were able to get it open in 30 seconds, maybe you have some sort of trick you can share with me.
Don't have a working drill on hand and my spare keys are in the trunk with my main set of keys.

Figured it out. Just punched a hole with a nail instead of a drill, worked fine.
My release lever is all gummed up, so I was hitting it with the coat hanger but the coat hanger would bend before lever could be freed.

Is this why the '79's (at least) won't let you take the keys out of the trunk lock until you close the trunk?
Re: Keys locked in trunk, crap!!!!
That would've saved me a lot of trouble. This isn't the first time that this has happened, just the first time that I couldn't find my spare.

Ok, sorry to dig up an old thread, but I have to vouch for the "hole behind the license plate" trick to popping the trunk. Tried to pick the lock for an hour before resigning to drilling a hole in a perfectly good car. Took 30 seconds. For the record, I used a long allen wrench to lever the latch open.
