All this talk about FFO has me bummed.
My vacation was used for the drive up to Oregon and Washington. But I sure wish I could be there with you all.
Don't forget your cameras.

Craig,

you are correct. I will be there as well. We are arriving Friday afternoon and leaving Sunday. My wife and I are bringing the kids this year, and as a result are towing the Fiat (no room for whole family and all of our stuff in the Fiat). So after all of the grief I gave you for towing your car last year, now I am doing the same  . But at least I am bringing it! So I will have something else to give you a hard time about this year  .

That should work, before the afternoon drive, which I imagine will be a little later.

I will be there! Bringing the Fiat. Been to may FFO's but have not brought my car since 1987.

Hoping also to get someone to diagnose my rough idle problem. Stalls out when cold. When warm does not stall, but still rough idle. Runs GREAT once underway.
Ideas? I went through the Fi manual and still stumped, so if any Fiat docs could listed to it and advise, I'd be grateful!

SJMST, now that's how I would like my '81 to look! Everything looks just right - clean and beautiful. I also love that color (but mine is turning green -literally).

Since I'm already posting, I might as well put in my two cents worth on your problem. Have you have tested the auxiliary air regulator and the temperature sensor in the coolant T above the radiator? It would seem to me that it is likely to be one of those two items. You can put an ohmeter on the temp sensor to test it, info at this thread:
http://www.fiatspider.com/f08/viewtopic ... tor#p47372

Or just swap it out for another, and see if the situation improves.

The process to test the AAR is also described in Brad Artigue's FI guide. Very easily you can test it for the idle condition. Someone else might correct me on this. You start the car from cold, immediately pinch off or otherwise block off the air hose going to the AAR or from the AAR to the manifold and there should be a difference to your idle (worse). If no change in the idle, then the AAR is probably not working (it is remaining shut at all times). Those hoses are quite brittle on my machine, so you might not be able to pinch them. You can also easily test it for electrical input (as per Artigue's guide).

Have fun at FFO. Wish I could be there.

if it idles rough, but runs good at speed, expect a vacuum leak. I'd check the injector seals. First, isolate which cylinder is misfiring.

See you there ,Sam.It seems to me you brought a awfully good looking car to FFO last year? :D My 82 has developed a little rough idle very similar to what you describe,so I will be eager to hear the diagnosis.

I to have the dreaded rough/too low idle, but only when cold. I purchased a new coolant sensor months ago, but have not yet installed. I tested the AAR by pinching off the hose when cold, and it didn't seem to make any difference.

I'll be there Thursday afternoon too. I'm hoping to have a signal on my cell phone by the time I get off the islands and I'll keep in touch enroute.
