Pope,
Both the font and rear springs have a metal & rubber "cup" on top that can be rotated. The bottom is fixed.

I cut 2 off the front and 2 off the back. I'm sick now because the back is lower than I would like. Should have just taken one off the back. 2 off the front looks great.

JB, if you need more springs, let me know. I've got several in a box somewhere. I know one is a set from a '72, but unsure of the other (year). You can have a pair for the cost of shipping, although I suspect you can get a set closer to home. Just a thought.

Hey Mark or anyone else. I want to cut my springs while I am re-doing the ball joints soon. Will a good hacksaw work? or will that take all day?

4" or 4 1/2" angle grinder and a metal cutoff wheel, probably less than 30 seconds per spring cut. Borrow one from a friend or neighbor. Even if you have to rent one for a 1/2 day, its still worth your time and effort.

Hi guys and gals,
I'm going to be taking my 78 apart soon and was thinking maybe I should replace the shocks and springs when I put it back together. The car is going on a rotisserie I made. I'm doing the whole car from scratch. Lots of rust. When I purchased the car, the only time I got to drive it was 3 miles to my home. I really don't know much history on the car. The previous owner was a mechanic and said he just restored the engine before he got sick. After reading your articles. I was wondering if I had purchased new springs, what would be the height of the car from the front to back? It seems everyone is lowering their cars. Is the height on new springs to high? I'm planning on putting 15'" wheels on later. It currently has 13" wheels. When I do the restoration, I will supply pics. By the way, this site is awesome! I only wish you guys were closer to New Jersey.

I don't remember seeing stock springs avail new, but the '75 and later sits very high in the rear stock. Too high to look good to most people. Most of the vendors sell lowered springs. I meant to measure mine before installing to see if any of Speedways race springs would fit.

Oh ok,
Were talking about aftermarket springs. I really never got to drive my car since purchase.(three miles) With the old worn out springs , my car sits just right. LOL Though it doesn't sound good when I push on the corners. My question is, should I replace both the shocks and the springs? If I just replace the shocks. Will there be too much pressure on them since the springs are worn? I want to approach this right. I've always wanted this car. Now I have one to tinker with. I just need your expertise. Also if I'm going to replace both. What type springs and shocks should I get. This is only going to be a street car. My racing days are over.
